ABOUT

Cristóbal Küpfer (b., Santiago, Chile) is a chilean-swiss photographer and ceramic sculptor based in Santiago, Chile and Zürich, Switzerland. Despite not having formal art education, he has developed his practice in a self-taught manner, continuously refining his craft. He has expanded his knowledge through local and international workshops.

He is a creator defined by contrasts; with a background in finances, he is immersed in a world of structure, numbers, and quarterly results. This contrasts with the liberating escape art provides him, offering both a refuge and a source of inspiration.

Through ceramics, Cristóbal has found a unique space where creativity and mindfulness converge. Each piece embodies his curiosity and willingness to embrace the unknown, serving as an experiment in textures, forms, and patterns. His work transcends mere object creation as it evolves through the experience of both spatial and interpersonal relationships, infusing each piece with a part of his heart and soul.

Captivated by the timeless depth of black and white film, his photographies highlight emotions and textures that often go unnoticed. For him, shooting on film is an act of patience and intention—an antidote to the impersonal, fast-paced digital world.
